Atobriso No.1 M/A Basic School
Established in 1963, Atobriso No.1 M/A Basic School has been a cornerstone of education in the Kwaebibirem Municipal District, located in the serene town of Atobriso No.1, near Kade in the Eastern Region of Ghana. For over 60 years, the school has shaped the futures of countless children, providing foundational knowledge and instilling values of discipline, community, and service.
The school's motto, "Let Your Light Shine," reflects its mission to empower students not just with knowledge, but also with the confidence and character to stand out in the world. From its earliest days, Atobriso No.1 M/A Basic School has encouraged its pupils to excel academically and become valuable contributors to their community and beyond.
However, despite its strong legacy and community impact, the school has long struggled with a shortage of classrooms and learning facilities. The growing student population often exceeds the capacity of the existing structures, forcing some classes to be held under makeshift shelters. Teachers do their best with limited resources, but overcrowded classrooms and a lack of essential learning materials, such as textbooks ,desks and computers, remain ongoing challenges.
These resource constraints have not dampened the determination of the students or staff. On the contrary, the difficulties have fostered a sense of resilience and collaboration among the school community. Parents, teachers, and local leaders have continuously sought solutions, advocating for support from local authorities and NGOs to address the infrastructural gaps.
While the school’s physical challenges remain, its spirit shines brightly. Atobriso No.1 M/A Basic School continues to embody the ethos of its motto, nurturing students to let their light shine against all odds. With renewed hope and community efforts, the school strives to secure the necessary facilities and resources that will allow it to offer even better opportunities to future generations.
